The Enduring Appeal of Walkers Crisps

walkers-crispsIf there’s one thing I look forward to when I head back to London for a visit it’s a packet of Walkers Crisps. Or rather several packets. As a Brit who’s lived in Toronto for 7 years, it hasn’t been too hard to find many of my favourite English foods here. We even used to frequent a downtown store stocking just English foods, including Walkers Crisps. Sadly though, the store closed about a year ago.

Walkers Crisps (by the way crisps = chips in North American) come in a variety of flavours. I’ve tried all of them and my top 3 are Smoky Bacon, Cheese and Onion, Worcester (pronounced Woost-er) Sauce and Tomato Ketchup. Ready Salted is also high on my list though… in fact, when I come to think about it, I pretty much like them all. And each flavour has a fascinating little story behind it.
